Experience the beauty of an Ouirgane hiking trek through Morocco’s quiet Azzaden Valley. This 2-day journey offers stunning views, authentic Berber culture, and a peaceful alternative to the busy trails near Imlil.
Your Ouirgane hiking trek begins in Tassa Ouirgane (1,250m), a traditional village of earth-and-stone homes. Local muleteers greet you with their animals. You’ll enter Toubkal National Park and walk past terraced gardens, walnut groves, and ochre-colored houses. In autumn, the golden walnut trees create incredible photo opportunities.
You’ll stop for a picnic lunch near the Ighouliden Waterfall—a refreshing highlight surrounded by cliffs and juniper trees. After lunch, you’ll climb to Tizi Oussem (1,900m). Explore the village, enjoy a home-cooked dinner, and sleep in a local Berber gîte.
On day two, you’ll leave after breakfast and climb steadily to Tizi M’zzik (1,889m). From there, you’ll descend into Imlil (1,700m), the main trekking hub of the Ait Mizane Valley. Your driver will meet you and take you back to Marrakech, arriving around 5:30 PM.
This trek covers 5–6 hours of walking per day and suits moderately fit hikers. We can also reverse the route—starting in Imlil and ending in Ouirgane—based on your needs.

Vegetarian meals are available on request. Just bring comfortable clothes, hiking shoes, sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and your camera.

Depart from Marrakech and travel to Tassa Ouirgane, a small Berber village at 1,250m elevation. Meet your muleteers and begin the trek into Toubkal National Park. Pass through terraced gardens, walnut groves, and traditional ochre-colored Berber houses. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the trail. Ascend to Tizi Oussem (1,900m), your destination for the day. Explore the village, enjoy dinner, and spend the night in a local Berber house (gîte).
After breakfast, leave Tizi Oussem and begin a steady climb to Tizi M’zzik (1,889m). From the pass, descend to Imlil (1,700m), the main trekking hub in the Ait Mizane Valley. Meet your driver in Imlil for the return transfer to Marrakech. Estimated return time: 5:30 PM. Note: This trek can also be done in reverse—starting from Imlil and ending in Ouirgane—upon request.
